Recently I had my H1B renewed and I need to get it stamped now. I am an Indian and was wondering if any Indian here has successfully stamped their H1B in these Canadian cities, instead of having to go to India? And if there are any pros and cons to consider here?
i have gone to toronto multiple times for visa stamping without any issues
One benefit of going to home country for stamping is that you can use Dropbox facility for subsequent stampings.
Having said that, I have a number of friends who prefer going to Vancouver or Tijuana for stamping as it works better for them from logistics point of view.. they prefer spending most of their vacation in India with their families instead of worrying about going for stamping to one of the bigger cities.
I went to Vancouver. No issues other than paying for the hotel.
During Obama’s era, I got mine in Calgary. Easy as pie. However, you need to make sure you have accommodations and enough buffer time and money in case there is any delay. Also, Canadian immigration gave me a hard time. Understandably they want to know if have a good chance of getting my stamping , if not I’m a alien risk to them. Finally, this is now a Trump era so it’s a different world. If your boss is chill, and if you have family, work from home/Canada for 2 week’s. That’s what I did
Did you had to go through any RFE while renewing your H1B ? As I am hearing it is very common now a days and everyone gets a RFE
