Are you impacted by this? I think its a great way of cutting massive Visa abuse. They should increase filing fee and increase min salary requirements. That will make sure only those people would get Visa which are actually important for employers and employers are ready to pay massive salaries. I really hate that a Google's eng don't get Visa and someone from HCL, TechMahindra, Wipro, TCS etc replaces him/her. So either increase the capacity from 85k to 150k or increase the min salary requirements or may be both for the best. #workvisa #h1b https://www.businessinsider.com/us-h1b-visa-rules-restrictions-cut-visas-by-third-unveiled-2020-10
What does this even mean? Proof of sending offer letter to real applicants? Isn’t this counter intuitive to lack of talent ?
What are you talking about? Employers do Visa filing for immigrants. They used to provide a min wage, which will be renounced soon.
Dude software engineers don’t get paid minimum wage lol... I’m on H1B. You guys keep forgetting that the Consulting company to Engineer pay ratio is 2:1.. consulting company charges 200k and gives like 100K to the engineer who does the job so it looks like the engineer is low wage.
Yes, H1B has a lot of issues. Trump, as usual, is always misinformed (or maybe informed and deliberately misled public for his own benefits). He is addressing the issue in a totally random and ridiculous manner that maybe it is addressing part of the issues, but overall ridiculously bad that is ruining our country competitiveness.
So Op what is your base, location and wage level. Am wage level 4 and base 205k..my wage level in bay area is 235k..I don't think there will be many people with base above 235k even at Fang
Not allowing electrical engineers to work in software jobs is unfair.
You can always fight the RFE
I thought Electrical guys already work in Software. Isn't that true? I personally know 2 guys working in Software but they studied Electrical.
