Can i get a visa transfer to a new company now and join in 3-4 months as i need to take care of some personal errands? Also, i will be getting visa stamped with current employer H1b. Has anyone done that? Any potential issues?
Yes. There's no such thing as an h1b "transfer". You always get a new H1B for a new employer. When you get one, you have 2 H1Bs, and until you start working for the new employer you are still on the old ones H1B. Then you start working for the new one and the old one withdraws their H1B. In theory you could have an approval from a new employer and then change your mind and not join them with no further action required. Your current H1B with old employer will continue to be valid. So to answer your question: yes, you can defer joining the new employer.
Do I have to go through lottery again to get 2nd H1B?
No
Yes, I’ve been in exactly same situation. You can join new company at later date and get visa stamped with current employer petition. You can have as many approved petitions as you get job for, however can work only for one until concurrent employment petition is not filed.
Did you get your second h1b transferred first and joined like 2-3 months later and got visa stamped as i mentioned as well?
