H.R.1044/S.386 replacement bills

It seems S386 going to be dead: https://twitter.com/gsiskind/status/1340406681478582275 I am assuming there will a similar bill to S386 next year. Considering that this one almost passed, will the new bill have a faster processing time next year? What are the chances that the new bill passes before Oct 2021 and become a law in Oct 2022? #h1b #workvisa #s386

Microsoft damned Dec 20, 2020

Well that depends. Are you able to paint all 1.3 billion Indians white and teach them Russian in that period of time? The 🐢 ain't going anywhere.

Oracle ziliboba Dec 20, 2020

Why Russian ?

Microsoft damned Dec 21, 2020

You're running the joke man... Drumpf has a thing for East Europeans, Moscow Mitch and Trump do everything to serve Putin...as a late example: Trump and Republicans are defending Russia in the hacks and since 2016 they're preventing the CIA from defending against interference (because they hope it can help reelection time and again) And obviously conservatives are racist fucks and only want white people (from Norway)

Move RhwV44 Dec 20, 2020

Sad to see this.I think there are some chance next year but the way this bill is dragged over the years, I am not too hopeful.

Microsoft damned Dec 21, 2020

Never. Moscow Mitch ain't going anywhere

With VP Mrs. Harris everything is possible. AFAIR she is one of the author of the bill.

Amazon lyIw84 Dec 20, 2020

She literally can't do anything to pass it lol.

LinkedIn Commentor Dec 21, 2020

Except negotiate and talk to people you mean, which is literally a major part of her job.

This one didn’t “almost passed”

Capital One DonJuanJr Dec 20, 2020

Wasn’t even close. Two different Bills passed each level of Congress.

Uber bHQG73 OP Dec 20, 2020

It passed both the senate and congress.

Microsoft prawnstar Dec 20, 2020

Truth is USA does not want more Indians to permanently immigrate. No such bill ever pass.

Amazon Jennie Dec 21, 2020

Source? Is it because an Indian became Vice President?

Uber nicetrying Dec 21, 2020

Most of these people will anyway become citizens if they have a US born kid.

Apple autorestrt Dec 20, 2020

Almost passed lol You need to first know the process

Amazon umez34 Dec 20, 2020

This bill has significant differences for Gop and Dems. Just look how hard for them to come up with the solution for stimulus. It might become a law next year. However i would not hope for this and would plan accordingly.

Amazon lyIw84 Dec 20, 2020

Indians would be smart to forget the country cap changes and just focus on passing i485 EAD early filling + preventing age out of kids. That alone would help a lot.

Salesforce vMYN22 Dec 20, 2020

Except they expect high end cake, not bread. I've said this before, baby steps. But nah, it was never about kids aging out, it was about them wanting GCs.

Hey lylw84, I have dmed you. Wanted to ask some questions regarding this process.

Microsoft ngRd9ft Dec 20, 2020

The only solution to this problem was where Trump's immigration EOs would have stopped family immigration and screwed over 80% of H1Bs by stringent salary requirements. With Trump and his policies gone, there's no hope whatsoever.

jobfinder Dec 21, 2020

The other solution is to increase the GCs. You are talking about reducing overall immigration levels. If they really want to solve this, I can give them many different ways. Easiest would be to not count dependents towards the cap. That itself will reduce the queue.

Microsoft damned Dec 21, 2020

Yeah...fuck all those Americans who want to live with their spouses and family so I get my GC...sure buddy, that's a winning proposition, go with it

Salesforce rev19 Dec 20, 2020

Biden also has few ideas on his agenda (incl HR1044). https://joebiden.com/immigration/ All of these will need Congress to approve, read as "may never happen". Nevertheless, here are few related points. - Reform the temporary visa system = Establish a wage-based allocation process. Expand the number of high-skilled visas. Eliminate the limits on employment-based visas by country, which create unacceptably long backlogs - Increase the number of visas awarded for permanent, employment-based immigration (from 140k). Exempt from any cap recent graduates of PhD programs in STEM fields in the U.S - Create a new visa category to allow cities and counties to petition for higher levels of immigrants to support their growth - Ensure that employers are not taking advantage of immigrant workers and that U.S. citizen workers are not being undercut by employers

Amazon lyIw84 Dec 20, 2020

If republicans keep Senate this January then it is all a pipe dream. Biden won't even bother with immigration changes when he has a COVID raveged country to get support from. Legislation that seems to be bringing more workers in a country where many are unemployed won't be viewed well.

Microsoft prawnstar Dec 20, 2020

Biden won’t do shit.
