To keep family happy, I have to move to Seattle cause her job is more difficult to get than mine, and she has a solid offer in Seattle. There's lots of good opportunities in other markets like Boston and NYC with decent TC, but relocation may be out of the question. Has anyone interviewed at other geographical locations only to pitch remote work after you get the offer? So this would be almost 100% remote, I can fly in every now and then if the company wants, but that's the most I can do. Not ideal, but may be a backup option.
If she works in Seattle, then you can find a job in Seattle too. If you want a remote job, search in google for “remote software engineer jobs”
Def disclose up front that you want remote. If they are open to it, they’ll tell you. If they aren’t, they won’t change their mind after making you an offer bc you are just that awesome — they’ll be pissed you wasted their time.
No, instead ask the recruiters up front about remote positions. That way you don’t waste a ton of time interviewing for jobs you don’t intend to take.
