I moved to the Bay in 2020 but ever since I have failed to forge any real connections. Most people I speak to are male geeks who have no social skills. the only topics they can talk about is how to clear tech interviews, what to do of the Visa and how to improve their financial portfolios. I understand that these topics are pivotal to survival but are people honestly capable of talking about anything else? Or is that all there is to life in the Silicon Valley? TC: 250k YOE:5
Revenge of the nerds. Y’all made life miserable for nerds in high school and college. Now suck it up 😂
Well do nerds have a life?😂😂😂😂
Shots fired
ahh it’s always the other persons fault
in this case it is😂
Typical bubble desi on H1B. Desis and in general Bay Area men do a lot more than what you described. Explore loser
I have felt the same. H1B syndrome. There seems very little dimensions to life here.
yup. some people try to fill their gaps with having an imported wife and kids. H1B struggles then intensifies 😂🤣
Normies usually talk about sports, tv, and movies. Is this really much better?
Yeah, much more dynamic
Yes.
Try to hang with people whose life don’t depend on a visa and can dedicate some energy to healthy things too
You’re confusing blind with real life my friend. Get out of the house, people are really not like that in the real world
Join a Bjj gym. Goal oriented fun activity and easy to make friends
Nerds did ruin the Bay Area lifestyle, but not particularly in the way you mentioned. They just pushed out the natives, but there's certainly more than just passing interviews, visas, and making money in their repertoire. You just have to make a deeper connection first before they'll show you their world. There won't be magic carpet rides, but they'll likely have a Tesla.
They pushed out the natives just as the natives pushed out the previous natives when they settled. SF is constantly renewing, very few multi-generation families around here since its founding. Who knows what will be the next generation chasing the nerds
And that's a completely fair point, but with how the tech industry has been more progressive leaning, one would expect more sympathy in the regard of displacing various communities. Maybe the spread has changed and tech workers are more conservative in which case your point is further reinforced.
Yes. I left SF thinking it was maybe the least fun City I’ve lived in. The people are awful, and the first question is always “where do you work”?
Visa you mean work visa? Or credit card?
both😂😂😂
I see Are you a foreigner and did you only interact with foreigners?
