Planning to do a huge interview wave with a bunch if companies this summer. Assuming I get offers from companies such as Google, Facebook, Uber, etc... what are my odds of staying in NYC and not having to relocate to Cali? Ive heard headcount in NYC is always extremely limited so I’m curious. TC: 128k
If Uber gave you an offer for NYC - they likely wouldn’t relocate you. Those teams are pretty good on HC. But there isn’t a ton of NYC roles - so the chances are smaller and even smaller amounts of new hire roles...
“I heard” they all increasing people in NYC since HQ pricing is cheaper in NYC than Sf
So curious why people want to work at uber? Or at least put it in the same category with Facebook / google? It’s making huge losses, stocks are surely over valued. Seems strange to compare it to those two - unless you are just wanting a very quick stint to get experience? Love to hear the reasoning, genuinely curious because I see the 3 compared a lot in blind posts.
Outside the USA Lyft doesn’t work while on the other hand Uber works on most countries I’ve been to

You should get some yoes first. Otherwise, it looks really bad on resume
