Headcount towards the end of the year

As someone with close to 3 years of experience, does it get harder to find a job towards the end of the year. I set my LinkedIn to 'actively applying' and am getting way less recruiter emails than when I did the same thing in February of this year. My online applications have been ignored too.

If Facebook engineers are getting ignored then we're all fucked

Keep in mind I have less than 3 yoe though

Compass roriti Sep 10, 2019

Seems like no one is hiring junior engineers anymore

E5 or E4?

E3 I joined last year and haven’t been promoted yet

I believe timing does matter. Not too sure what’s going on in your case right now but typically during holidays (November/December) hiring is slow. It picks back up the first quarter as soon as budgeting is done (in mid size to small companies at least)

Why you want to leave FB?

Hiring does slow down heading toward the end of the year

Indeed canceller Sep 10, 2019

Yes, hiring slows toward the end of the year. Depending on the company, priorities shift as well during this time of year. Also, several signs of markets slowing. Things may pick up a smidge in Jan/Feb, but you may need to get more assertive and not rely so much on passive means of searching. 2020 is an election year, not a great time to make big changes.

But it's only Sept? Not exactly end of year

Indeed canceller Sep 10, 2019

Lol, after October, year’s basically over. You go into the holidays. November is “hurry up and get it done.” December no one is around.

Yes it does. My leadership team told us low level managers to hire ASAP or lose our HC.
