I recently transitioned to Ux Design and feel that I’m hitting a wall with my job search. Offering to do a design sprint in my cover letter but not sure if that’s the best way forward. What helped you land your job?#design #interviews #ui/ux
The only way is experience. If you don’t have real projects to talk about and show your problem solving skills, you might need to do some low paying work as a contractor etc to get that experience first. I can tell you that the market is literally flooded with juniors. Most companies are looking for seniors and above right now. Don’t give up and get that experience, you’ll land a job eventually with persistence and hard work.
Hey were you able to land a job? I’m currently in the same situation and not sure how to get through
Hey! I sure did but it’s not ideal and it’s not what you’re expecting as an answer. Find freelance UX work and start writing UX articles that people will read. I started creating presentations instead of case studies during interviews. But most importantly find UX work that actually leads to sales. No junior will have that. Currently in final stages with 5 companies.
What is the the feedback that you are getting? First job is the hardest to get keep at it.
On average i get back the typical “it’s a competitive process and we went with someone more senior”. But they want more of a track record. Does that mean more case studies? Or better case studies?
Do you have an online portfolio? Yes, they want to see more concrete work with impact. Which is difficult to get if you are starting out.
