Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
Has anyone moved from vanguard to faang? I want to know how to use my remaining time here as effectively as possible to prepare for FAANG. I want to know everything from anyone who made the jump on how to make the jump. What teams/divisions/etc. are better for tech and prep, I’ve heard good things about cto and gifs, and that most other teams are more business heavy and less tech heavy. I’m eligible to switch soon due to the end of the 18 months. I’m an app3 but I haven’t done much database work here, mostly microservices and aws. Is that going to be an issue? I also haven’t used the full set of Java features - we don’t do spring security or jpa (because no databases) or other things. How did you prepare? I feel like there will be gaps in my skill set since vanguard is a financial company with an IT division and not a tech company. Be detailed - what things, for how long, how often, etc. Given my gaps (security, databases) should I focus on those? How so, how much? Tc: 139k
Just study leetcode and sys design. Your current experience is just stories to tell during the behavioral portions.
Amazon is the easiest way to break in. Just leetcode and study the leadership principals. These companies are massive with their own proprietary tools. They don’t expect you to be experts or even use the tech that they use.
The only thing vanguard (or whatever) can help you with is getting an interview. Once you have that, doesn't matter where you worked. Resume does not effect an offer after onsite interview. So what's your block? Is it interview state or resume screen?
Hmm, have you tried leetcode ?
