Canadian, all numbers are CAD. I am in my late 40s with 18 YOE. Offer 1: Machine learning startup (50 ppl, well funded). Base 150K, bonus 10%, sign-on 15k, 35K stock options. PROS: great potential, a lot of freedom, interesting work. CONS: minimal benefit, machine learning is becoming a too popular field, leaderships are young and inexperienced, a lot of freedom means lack of focus. Offer 2: Magic Leap Lead SWE. Base 170K, bonus 25%, no sign-on, 5K RSU. PROS: better pay, great benefit, interesting field, clear direction in my role. CONS: unsure about the future of the company. work is not as interesting. I have met all the people I will work close with. They are all great. With the looming recession, which one is a safer bet? Please comment. Poll question, which one would you pick?
Keep interviewing. You could probably get more at a big tech company with your YOE. Otherwise don't take the start up unless you want to grind it out.
I am done with interviewing. Failed Meta leetcode twice already. LC is completely a waste of time.
how much prep did you do?

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Magic Leap is still there !?
Yes, Magic Leap 2 is just out, and looks promising
Woww that’s cool. When I did my PhD few years ago, my advisor told me it’s a scam. I bet they have proven themselves now. AR/VR is definitely a promising field.
