UPD: Stripe just called and upped base + sign on bonus (updating here). Offer 1: Stripe, L2 (their version of E4) 175k (up from 165) base + 10% target bonus 115k RSUs per year TC: ~311k + 35k sign on = 346k first year Offer 2: Plaid, E4 150k base RSUs: 354k over 4 years at 13.4B valuation TC: 238k; +7.5k sign on bonus Offer 3: Meta, E3 124k base + 10% target bonus RSUs: 202k over 4 years TC: 187k +45k sign on (232k first year) Have another onsite next week with Uber (Freight), we'll see how that goes. All remote. Plaid has already bumped the base, I can try to ask them to match Stripe, but idk if they'll do it; also asked Stripe for a possibility of a higher base, they're looking into it. Meta said the offer is standard and non-negotiable. H1B, so I'd join at least a few weeks from now and would like some stability. WLB is kind of important (looks like Plaid is a winner here), but so are opportunities for growth. Teams: the team at Stripe seems pretty great, mostly building a new product; Plaid - I might have made a wrong choice when applying, people are nice, but I got the impression that work could be boring (but also better WLB because of this? no hard deadlines, as opposed to Stripe); Meta - a wildcard with their bootcamp process, though I'd actually be pretty excited to go through it. Stock upside: ?? Plaid might have some? Also Meta if I join before it rises back? Perks: Meta > Stripe > Plaid, but this doesn't matter much. Really lost here, neither seems like an obvious choice. I'm not sure about the prospect of Stripe's IPO and valuation; and even though Meta's level and comp is less than the other two, I'm still considering it, especially if there's a chance to be promoted to E4 within a year. Either way, I need a change from my current job for many reasons. Tired of interviewing, so I don't think I'll be applying anywhere else (Google would be nice, but they're not good on remote policy). I'd be thankful for opinions. Currently, base 180k + some peanuts, ~190k TC YOE: 1.5
No chance of Stripe IPO in this market anytime soon
How did you prep for this?
Not much, maybe a couple dozen of LC tagged problems + sample interviews over several weeks. Stripe and Plaid have a really fun interview process, not LC-heavy at all. Meta's questions were from LC tagged, though my concentration during the "onsite" coding interviews was meh and I didn't think I'd actually get an offer from them... maybe they lowered the bar? I think I did well on all of the behavioral rounds though.
Is stripe ever a “no-brainer?” Fidelity just marked down their value by 9%, but I’d consider it more like 30% minimum overpriced when you’re doing your comparisons
TC is decent even if it goes 0.5x, but yeah, I'm still unsure and very much looking for input on this.
How do you feel about Plaid, if you don't mind me asking?
Did you have System Design interviews ?
No, I guess not for my level
Thanks for your response. Could you tell more about your interviews? What kind of questions they asked? Great offers and congratulations btw. You crushed it!
Meta forsure
What company pays 180k for someone with only 1.5 years?
That’s what Amazon gave me at 0.5 yoe
How’d the Freight interview go?
Meta.
Meta recruits for E3? I thought they only recruit new grads and put them in E3
As long as it's less than 2 years apparently
idk, they reached out and I went through the application process because why not - didn't know target level at that time and in the offer, they don't mention the level directly, but these are obviously E3 numbers
