Help with Car recommendation

Honda Accord (Gas) vs Honda Accord Hybrid (Hybrid) or Nissan Leaf (EV) ? How reliable are the batteries of the hybrids? I hear they are expensive to repair / replace and are required for the car to run. My first car. To be used for daily commute and occasional weekend trips. How would you rate the cars on maintenance costs, insurance and other imp factors? TC: 175k

Buy all 3, try all 3, then return 2

You’re a perfect Amazonian :)

Why not Tesla model 3? No reason to advertise. The car is really good if you are looking for a sedan. Price has dropped, great driver experience, high tech, safety, savings on gas.

No brah. Reminds me of RC car.

Thought about it for a while, but because of higher upfront cost and high insurance costs, decided not to go for Tesla

TBH they’re all in the same tier. Good for commute and nothing fancy.

Did you consider the Lexus 600hL? Slightly luxuriously but hybrid as well.

Are you in the Bay Area? Only leaf will get you a carpool sticker. Google has free chargers saving basically all gas costs. Leaf range is limited. Either have access to another (spouse/gf/roommate) car or be ready to rent. Another option. Honda clarity. You get sticker, mostly drive electric but have gas for range. Same size as accord.

The ownership cost for Tesla model 3 will be pretty low over 3 years. It’s the best vehicle I have ever owned. The acceleration, features etc. make driving less stressful. If you want to consider it, feel free to dm me about it or for a referral.

I second the 3. It’s a different experience. Something like the original iPhone vs. Windows CE. Regular sw updates make it feel like a new car. Insurance can be similar to comparable gas cars if you shop around

You know you are in the Bay Area (less likely Seattle) when someone has to recommend a model 3 even when the op doesn’t include it. “I need a Hearst for a funeral ... “ “Why not a 3? It drives well, gets great acceleration etc. you sure can get that coffin in without a drop of gas like those old peasants.” @op. You to take the vehicle on a road trip so an EV really shouldn’t be on the list unless you stay or drive near the popular charging network. I second the other person who suggested the Honda clarity. It fits 5 adults comfortably, runs mostly on electricity but in case you run out have gas to cover. Note it’s dreadfully slow once the EV range is gone.

Why is it slow when the ev runs out? It should switch to standard hybrid at that point.

Microsoft iiieeegemm Jun 26, 2019

What's the car used for? You can't go wrong with full ev as long as you have charging options.
