Fuck defense contractors.. but also... How TF are they running low on money, we just gave them like a 200 billion dollar paycheck

Zillow Group rteqpl Feb 27

Inflation is high and yachts are hella expensive. The execs need to lay people off so they can buy new yachts

Lockheed Martin nanochad Feb 27

This location mostly works on space programs hence the name space park. Satellites are cringe now, but missiles are fr lit

Northrop lost like 1.5 billion already on a fixed price contract lol idk how this company stays afloat

Amazon p@$sw0rd Feb 27

Too big to fail. The major defense contractors hold so much ip and support so many garbage products that the government relies on. The government needs them to stay afloat so they can continue to operate.

Northrop has 2 big sides one aeronautics and one space…the space force is less tolerant now and appropriated funds to prioritize air instead of space due to Ukraine war. The air side has been doing better than it had been in the last 10 years or so. NG could have easily relocated to find some work for these 1K space folks elsewhere but didn’t. It looks like they’re trying to copy the tech trend of layoffs to trim the fat despite having won some couple billion dollar contracts recently. Lockheed is doing the same. Primes now are generally being threatened and competed against by new age aerospace startups. One well known example is SpaceX monopolizing what they do so others can’t. That being said the culture is definitely changing at primes where they’re forced to be more fast paced like a startup but only time will tell if they start paying us like so…otherwise this kind of situation will keep happening where all the talent is leaving. Primes generally think engineers are just cogs in a machine and replaceable but this is what happens when you don’t have talent left to help execute
