Google can do better ... A memo written by a Google employee that accuses the company of discriminating and retaliating against her for being pregnant has been seen by more than 10,000 employees at the internet giant, Motherboard has learned. https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/mbmqxq/heres-the-memo-currently-going-viral-at-google Last week, the woman posted the memo, titled "I'm Not Returning to Google After Maternity Leave, and Here is Why," to an internal company message board for expecting and new mothers. #maternity #mothers #misfortune
Sounds like a piece of shit boss. But again a bunch of he said she said
Thanks for sharing
It’s becoming a trend there to have “memo” and bash the management. 🤔
Shithole companies everywhere...
Make it rain what?
Is rain a cloud reference ? I am cloud pro-diver
This happened to me at Uber as well - my perf and bonus were negatively impacted in spite of getting promoted that year - and to top it all - no one tried to help me with this when I questioned this when I came back from maternity
A dad here, my bonus was impacted after paternity leave as well but that was understandable. Bonus is calculated generally with bonus elegible salary. when I didn't work for three months, my BES was 0 for those months. Also, my impact was less that year compared to my peers so overall merit increase was less as well. Was this the case with you too?
I don’t understand this as well. If you are gone 3-6 months (that’s a ton of time in tech) , do you expect top bonus/stock?
Googli, you should go to Expedia. Women get promoted upon returning after 6 months on maternity while others who busted their asses shipping products during that time get 'inspiration'.
Confession: Just read the details in the memo: that's messed up.
Amazon has a lot more Toxic culture it’s just not in memos !!
They should do a policy if you go on leave you have the option of carrying over previous years rating
If companies had their way, people would essentially stop reproducing and keep making those feature pull requests. May be tech companies should look into out sourcing pregnancies so women employees can keep working. That would be a great perk to offer as a company.
Don't they cover surrogacy?
Companies like when you have kids, it handcuffs you to them somewhat out of fear. You're then in the someone to provide for boat along with most others. That's why people without kids are asked to go the extra mile... because they don't have kids so their time and energy "must" be unlimited. And then there's the other half of the coin that the parent has enough on their plate, needs to pick up the kids, need a raise bc they have a family, etc. Nothing against people who choose to have kids or those that don't, this is just how it usually seems to shake out with manager's expectations and assignments
Well she should be fired immediately
Why?
Which she in the story... ?
