Hi I would like to know on which (if any) high yield savings accounts allow international F1 students (not on work visa) to create accounts. I tried Goldman Sachs Marcus and that does not allow one with <5y in the US to create an account. I meet the substantial presence test requirements of 183 days in the US but not 5y requirements. I hear that wealthfront allows this but would like to confirm Blind Tax: Internship annualized income of 180k
Where do you intern?
A hedge fund/ HFT
Do you’ve an SSN ?? With SSN and US address you should be able to open a account with Amex
Yes, I’ve got an SSN and US address. I shall try to get in touch with Amex thanks
In a similar situation here (on F1 OPT). My understanding is that you should be eligible for wealthfront with a US address. Would appreciate any other info on HYSA/CD options for F1 visa holders
I checked with wealthfront, they do allow it save you have a state approved ID
You could buy 1-3year bond etf like VUSB
Also there's Jiko where your money gets swept into short term treasury bills
The following policy letter from May 2023 says you only need to be 18, have a SSN and need a US address, does this mean people on F1 OPT can now have HYSA with Marcus? https://www.marcus.com/content/dam/marcus/us/en/pdfs/Marcus_Deposit_Account_Agreement.pdf
