Hi Blind, I recently got an offer at Accenture which I accepted pending background check (no surprise there). I had a period of self employment where I was doing solo consulting work but was just paid directly (didn’t have an llc etc and didn’t make enough for tax filing. I basically just got the experience out of it). HireRight, ACC’s background checker is having trouble verifying. Am I being paranoid here? Should I proactively reach out to my recruiter? I’ve been unemployed for like 10 months and both want and need this job. Update: Accenture internal team didn’t seem to care and just cleared me to start. Thanks for the stress for now reason, HireRight…
Do you have any proof how you got paid.? Show them some bank statement or some paystub.
They didn’t accept these as proof. Only government ones. (1099 etc). Report is sent to acc background check team now. I mean this must’ve come up on Uber’s check at my previous job right? Fuck the job hunting process I want certainty. Haha
Hireright is a pain in the ass. I had a similar issue but it got resolved (took about 2 weeks). Give it time and work with your recruiter. Are you in the US? I found the local US recruiters to be more helpful than the global hotline.
Yeah US. Although my recruiter said she doesn’t have any control over the process so basically just waiting to see if the Accenture background review team gives a shit. I’m sure she’d be an asset if they needed further clarification.
Hireright is incompetent. They messed up so much stuff on my final report (flopped employment dates of previous companies, etc) even after informing them. Just go through the motions and you will make it to the other side. The most important thing is that you are honest. I think its a bad experience for everyone.
Update: cleared to start by internal background team. Thanks for the stress HireRight. Ugh lol
Niceeeee 🎉🎉
I would proactively reach out to your recruiter to explain the situation but you have nothing to worry about. I had some gaps in my resume at the same company that HireRight flagged, but I explained the situation and they were fine with that. Good luck!
