Think Chewy may have done the same?

No surprises here. When Amazon was about the size GoPuff was a couple years ago, I ordered a book and it took weeks to arrive. The process hadn’t been analyzed and automated to high efficiency yet. Mind you, nobody ever figured out how to do what GoPuff is doing profitably. Many tried during the dot-com boom and failed, yet technology was not the limiting factor at the time and no breakthrough has occurred since. Even Amazon’s retail business doesn’t make money.

Did GoPuff have any chance at any point?

Both Amazon and Microsoft managers bring their toxic cutthroat culture with them. Happened to me when I was working at a startup and happened to my coworker at VMware.

Yeah I have heard that a lot… some companies try to avoid hiring from Amzn to prevent the toxic culture from seeping into their firms

In the Seattle area it's really hard to avoid these ex-Microsoft and ex-Amazon a**holes.

Amazon employees did not destroy GoPuff. GoPuff leadership destroyed GoPuff - let’s call it like it is. The founders are incompetent and failed to listen to the leaders they brought from both Amazon & Uber who have already successfully built the type of business GoPuff can’t seem to build.

I think both leadership and the amazon culture destroyed it. Constant political in fighting and amazon people trying to force a culture that would not work at a smaller startup is a recipe for disaster. Godspeed to Flexport as TC was probably the worst leader I’ve worked with in my careers.
