Hey Blind! I'm looking to hire strong C++ client devs to join the video player team at Twitch. These are L6 (Amazon leveling) roles. We are open to strong L5 candidates as well. These are roles for the San Francisco Twitch HQ office, but we also accept remote candidates within the US. We're looking for 3 different profiles: - C++ dev with a math/stats background to evolve our ABR algorithms - iOS (Obj-C) dev with C++ experience to improve our iOS player platform - Android (Java) dev with C++ experience to own our Android player platform Our small team builds the cross-platform video player SDK powering low latency playback at Twitch. Twitch's perks are great and we're very remote-friendly (~50% of the team is remote). I'm a hiring manager - please message me for more info. #twitch #amazon #video #media #gaming
I have a lot of C++ experience and really strong math background (math major, score ~20 on putnam, etc). I am also good in algorithms (ICPC, orange on codeforces). ... but I am L3 (L4 on amazon leveling) RIP.
What kind of comp can one expect? Let’s say an E6 from FB wants to join who has an extremely relevant background.
If you’re slotted as L6, you can get up to ~460k. L7 is very hard to external hire for and doesn’t sound like it would be on this managers team, but would fetch up to 700k
I can't comment on specific comp publicly, but ranges are available online. Please message me if you're interested and have relevant background - we can make exceptions for the right candidates.
A hiring manager and a recruiter at Twitch keeps spamming me with a copy paste description of the same role once a week, even though I've responded 3 times expressing interest. I am no longer interested. 😂
I work in this org but not this team. Seems like a good/well-managed team.
How is twitch culture? Has it been infected much by Amazon? Burn and churn?
IMO, Twitch combines the benefits of Amazon's scale, resources, and technical maturity with our own perks (e.g. unlimited PTO, well-stocked office, great free food, commuter/gym perks). We also have a good amount of flexibility in choosing the practices we adopt from Amazon. Many people are passionate about gaming here, but we also have a healthy population that don't play and are more excited about our technical challenges.
Do you still do OLRs and stack ranking?
Location? Level?
Updated in the description. L6 / SDE III roles. Hiring for SF, but we are very remote friendly for US-based candidates.
