In my final round, the hiring manager asked me for expected salary, I asked if she can give me a range. She said no, and told me to get back with number and tell that to the HR. I am not sure if I will quote too much or too less. Current CTC 19 My own expectation is 60% hike ~ 30 I have 2 YOE This is for IBM ISDL Bangalore, AI libraries on Linux toolchain developer ******UPDATE***** They are offering 20% hike and remaining 40% as joining bonus spread across 2 years. I think this is not a good offer... Any advice is appreciated.. #offer #salarynegotiation
Ex IBM'er here. Same thing happened to me. Please keep the following points in mind. 1. Ask for which band they are hiring. Salary range depends on the band. Find out what's the range for that band and ask accordingly. 2. The only time you'll get a decent hike is this one. Increments at IBM are pretty sh**. 3. Ask for a Joining bonus, if in case they are lowballing you with Band range. They will absolutely give you a joining bonus if in case they are able to get you to agree for a "expected" range. 4. In IBM paycheks, the pf if pretty good, not the usual 1800 pm. 5. Life at IBM is pretty chill in comparison but that can vary project to project. 6. IBM rehires 3 times max. If in case you feel like coming back with an increment. 7. Ask for a relocation bonus, I didnt so I'm not sure about this one.
