Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Stocks and crypto crashing. Future looking bleak. Atleast I'm in Walmart, hope and they'll transfer me to a store worker when recession hits.
Ppl/corporations are move remaining funds from stocks and crypto to cash flowing properties. Cash flowing from rent payers who hasnāt bought and is now too late to buy. Kinda of mean of them actually. Either you squeeze out the maximum you can pay for a mortgage or they squeeze out the maximum you can pay for rent
check Zillow, estimates are already dipping in many places
Smart people on both sides of the āhousing will dipā vs āhousing wonāt dipā crowd. The housing bulls say the supply is short and housing only dips when thereās forced selling due to job losses and bankruptcies etc. however the housing bears would be right to point out that there would be forced selling if we enter any sort of significant recession that leads to job losses.
housing supply was forced low due to lockdowns + supply chain issues housing demand was high due to migration away from cities during pandemic and need for more space due to WFH values were pushed even higher due to cheap money. all 3 of those are being addressed now.. builders are able to work and houses are popping up quickly, people are being forced back to offices and cities, and the free money is being pulled back out of the market. a large % of techies (like me) lost ~50% of their net worth in the past several months. I went from considering buying a new house to "maybe I'll add an addition to my current place sometime next year". people will not be willing to spend as much and there will be more supply. additionally, more and more places are implementing short term rental limits which reduces the potential ROI of houses in those areas. prices will definitely go down and we have already seen that begin.
You waited and now you can get maybe a 1-2% discount with an interest rate that is double or more... Everyone "waiting for the crash" never realizes that buying conditions also worsen when prices decline.
1-2% discount? Did you miss 2008
Did you miss 2008-2015? Sold my house in 2014 for 100k less than what I bought it for in 2006. (Short sale) America has such a short memory.
The only way to solve housing crisis is HUGE tax on 2nd homes/investment properties etc. And why the fuck are companies allowed to buy a house? A house is for people to live in not a commodity to trade
Sir this is a Wendyās
Boomers will continue to HODL their $1 million listings on a home that they bought for 11 raspberries in 1973 just to spite us.
With prop 13 can you really blame them?
They will let you live there for a fee
Nobody knows
Multiple homes have 10%+ price cuts, what more is indicative of a crash.
Thatās not a crash, itās a correction.
SPY did not go down 20% in one day. It is a process that goes on for months and could be years.
