This is is how crazy housing market is in Austin. This is an OKish new build community in Round Rock/Hutto. I feel left out. Is the Netflix show (20 Something in Austin) to blame? #housing #housing TC: 160k
yes a show released 2 weeks ago is to blame 🙄
I’m sure some Bay Area folks would take inspiration m move :)
Which show?
Elon is to blame. Austin is such a small Town, and there are policies which prohibit new skyscrapers.
Elon didn’t help, the pandemic and remote work had a significantly larger impact than anything
That is just fake news, there are maybe 5 new skyscrapers going up right now, if not more… Also, small town of a million people?
It’s all the tech people moving to Austin
Don’t you see? We are to blame. We ruined Bay Are and Seattle already. Now it’s Austin’s turn. What did you think is gonna happen with all these people saying on Blind that they gonna move there for much cheaper housing.
The writing has been on the wall for the past several years
and you forgot the best part, remote cali jobs with austin mortgages!
Austin was having a boom long before Elon or the pandemic. The boom was already starting in 2012 and just ramped up from there.
What did you think would happen when people from California sold their overpriced dumps and moved to Austin? That 800sqft shack in California is worth more than a mansion in Austin. Enter the bidding wars.
How is the Raleigh/RTP real estate market? I have been reading that it is going to be new Austin and Seattle. Also seen some houses being sold for 200+k asking price, just crazy market.
RTP is much more sustainable. Austin has a bunch of dumb hipsters trying to sell it as cool that Raleigh never had
I'm living at home with my parents, they bought the house when I was in high school and it's gone up 300k+ since then. 9 years? It's too old to be the new Austin, and it doesn't have enough outdoor activities to be a new Seattle. It's probably the best place to have kids though, the schools are very good. I'd recommended not living north of Raleigh if you hate traffic
I’d love to move to Austin but worry it’s just going to be all the same nonsense as SF within a couple years. But maybe being in a red state will help?
It's the city that influences the housing market more than the state. From what I heard, Austin's planning department is no good. Although there are some planned policy changes that should help. Like allowing ADUs everywhere.
amazon is correct in that the planning dept is horrible, but it's really a reflection of the nimbyism of the town itself, which has gone on for ages. if youd like to learn more, learn about why barton skyway is broken and never completed. and how barton hills uses tax money to create private parking on the public streets in that neighbourhood. source - i am a lifelong austinite
YOU are the demand that is outstripping supply… in any case, it’s a first world problem if that’s any comfort

Israeli precision-guided munition likely killed group of children playing foosball in Gaza, weapons experts say
It’s ok mate. Broker here. Not all the deals will close due to issue relating to buyer/appraisal/etc. Have a realtor link up with that builder rep if you’re interested and you can scoop in on that deal if one doesn’t go through. It’s crazy in Austin right now.
They sell to just folks who are gonna make it their primary residence. So I don see the deal falling through
They will have an appraisal issue since people are overbidding and there will be folks who can’t come up with the difference to cover the cash.
