Lost my return offer from a tier 1 company (meta) earlier this year and had a really tough time finding new grad SWE roles. I landed a post-sales job at a tier 4/5ish company and the first 6 months are just training. I started in January and have not been enjoying it - the role is pretty dry with a heavy support focus and I feel like I'm a builder at heart. I was able to land an offer at a tier 1/2 tech company (msft) a week ago that I think I'd really enjoy and I'm wondering if I should quit. Also, the TC is ~23% higher (not that it matters that much I live with my parents and do not spend money going out/eating out etc) I feel conflicted; this company took a chance on me and gave me a steady income for 4 months and id be leaving them without providing any ROI. how best do I go about this? #quitting #resignation #meta #microsoft #Vmware
Doesn’t matter how you do it, just do it asap if you’ve already decided. You’re not getting a warm departure regardless
Just give 2 weeks notice in email and talk to your boss you are leaving before sending the email. You are not as important as you think you are. The company won't think twice before laying you off of the need arises.
Meta is shit tier now
You can get fired any day, you can quit any day. Just be respectful and give 2 weeks. Congrats on the new gig.
Keep this in mind: If the company thinks they'll save a little bit of cash by letting me go, they would do it without hesitation And go in and just quit and leave. It's actually very simple. Imagine how stupid you'd feel if you decide to stay and tomorrow you get an Email saying "we reduced our team and you're impacted".
Never ever have a second doubt or loyalty to your company. Like everyone said above they’ll cut you at moments notice if they’re told to.
Two weeks notice. Thank them for giving you a chance and try to wrap things up nicely for them.
“dear boss. i resign effective 1 week”. that’s it. exactly like any other resignation since you’re just training 1 week is a lot of notice. there’s no conflict here. it’s all in your head. they don’t give a shit about you
