This is how I feel when I read all your TC, makes feel like I’m in poverty when I’m technically higher income. TC: 140s in MCOL I.e. Upper Poor
Upper poor is till 200K
Adjusted for inflation, blind is more accurate
Or just more honest. Any increase in threshold automatically translates to X% increase in poverty under the Y administration.
Well, 32k is broke right?
I should have crossed out broke and replaced it with “poverty”
Top 1% of the world!
10/10 for the background
This is actually not inaccurate in the Bay area though
Yes, it is inaccurate
500k to 800k household income in west coast is definitely middle class (may be upper). Especially when these numbers are common for plenty of folks. Note that this may not be true for Midwest. So it does vary by location. Housing, food and kids would eat up a big chunk of that income. I wud say actual “rich” would be about 1.5M+ HHI in west coast. This goes up every year due to inflation.
Maybe this is a cultural difference, but in the UK you cannot easily become Upper Class by earning alone. The Upper Class do not work. They have assets and usually pedigree, you normally need to be born or marry into it and usually wield political power. Your education plays a big part too. Even equity partners at top law firms earning millions a year TC are only Upper Middle Class, as they are still working at the end of the day.
lol 450 still feels middle class to me, you need to be able to buy a starter home every 3-6 months to be rich imo
Really? I don’t think I am rich.
Someone making 600k said they were middle class the other day
That was me
It depends. Most people will tell you that they are middle class. But it’s hard to pin down what is middle class. There are studies about this phenomenon.
