I have a Bachelors Degree in a non coding field (India). I have a Masters degree focusing in Statistics from US, and I am currently pursuing the Online Master of Science in Analytics (OMSA) at Georgia Tech - specializing in Computational Data Analytics. I am skilled in Python, R, SQL, Microsoft Azure Databricks, Tableau and PowerBI. I have completed 5 courses in OMSA so far. Will be completing more coursework in Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Javascript and other technologies. I do not have knowledge of data structures & algorithms and systems design. How important are these 2 concepts from the point of view of becoming a full stack Senior DS at FAANG/Any Tech Giant in Silicon Valley? TC : 156K YOE : 6 years of statistics and predictive modeling applied to insurance work experience. Location : Midwest #data #dataanalytics #datascience
They are not important for DS roles, but probably are for MLE roles.
Full stack DS positions will require strong coding and system design/distributed system skills
Also most FAANG DS are essentially product data analytics roles
Is stats masters worth it? I enjoy stats for the applications but math has always been a weak point for me. You sound very skilled though.
I loved stats and math since childhood so it’s prob worth it for me
