TC: 105 T2 S4/HANA consultant Philly 5 yoe MS in IS Am I being underpaid? From the TCs mentioned on this app it seems like my TC is nothing compared to what’s being offered in the industry. Is it time to switch? If so how’s the market?
Are you skilled in general coding (not SAP?)
Yes I am a CS major and do code and debug from time to time in ABAP. I am skilled in Python as well if that’s what you’re asking.
Then yes, you should look for a true SWE job. You should be making 2x of your TC.
Seems like a good TC for what sounds like tech support. Most of us posting these high TCs are software engineers.
Why does it sound like tech support?
Would you recommend switching to SWE given how much these roles are being outsourced to India and the rise of GenAI? Is it a sustainable career in the US rn?
You have to become a SWE. Consultants are generally underpaid.
Is that sustainable though given how much SWE roles are being outsourced to India and other countries?
6yoe tc 110k here, welcome to the club. I’ve been looking for my golden ticket for some time now. Something will stick at some point. Apply to jobs and see what happens - worst case is you don’t get the job and move onto the next.
Yes people make 500 k max at your experience
At my experience as in the technology or my yeo?
Join faang and you will make the big TC. It’s not a secret
That’s a given but I see a lot of nonfaangs making similar.
You are at SAP.
I see that you have been living under a rock for 5 years
Seriously! I thought that much TC can only be made at director/management level
I make your exact same TC with 3 YOE (roughly) so you’re definitely underpaid. I would consider switching once the market gets better. Best of luck! TC: 105K
No one is underpaid or overpaid. You are paid exactly what you deserve. You can improve yourself to get out of poverty though.
That is a good attitude to have but also a lot of what is deserved is based on luck.
Luck is also your skill
