Hi Blinders, I got an ominous and confusing email from my lead recruiter after my onsite (Microsoft) and I'm trying to figure out if it's a good or bad result. The email included scheduling a call with him for "reviewing feedback" and "next steps" so I don't know how to take it. There also didnt seem like there was urgency as he asked for some times during the week. I'm curious how your verbal offers have typically been made? With Amazon, the recruiter called me (I was unavailable) and then sent me an email right offer saying "we want to make an offer." Thank u! #tech #offer #microsoft #apple #stripe #google #venmo #airbnb #netflix
Sounds like an offer
“Next steps” could mean “how you gonna apply again after cool off period” ...JK, congratulations!!
Microsoft recruiters try to play it smart and if you'd observe their mails carefully, they'd deliberately frame the sentences in such a way so as to avoid the use of any such words like "Offer" or "Compensation" etc. They'll give you the verbal offer too on call and even the mail for the call would probably contain something like "Discussion for next steps". Probably they want to avoid any written proof which conveys concreteness of they offering you anything before you've verbally agreed to the offer. Cheap tricks for nothing.
What’s the update
No offer!
Did the interview not go well ?
Next steps is almost always good news. My recruiter also never seemed urgent but I got an offer.
Thanks for the insight! It boggles my mind how different recruitment is both from company to company and also from recruiter to recruiter. And congrats on the offer!
