How are you supposed to use Reddit as a new user?

It seems like all posts and comments from new accounts are auto-hidden and you either need an older account or more karma points for your posts and comments to show up, but how do you gather these points if no one can see what you're posting? Can someone explain this? I know it's to combat trolls, but if I verify my email, shouldn't this give me full access?

Be a normal user in local city or hobby related subreddit before trying to post in the bigger subs that have more requirements. Even then it might not be you. Some subreddits simply have terrible or toxic moderation.

Also Your email doesn't really do anything. Each subreddit is it's own community. You really could consider each on a separate website or forum under the same roof. Reddit is best if you stick to the niche communities that interest you vs the default front page

That’s so dumb. I want to post a specific thing and I’d rather just not post it than post other random junk I don’t want to just to get points. Imagine discouraging users from interacting with your site 🤦‍♂️

Just search for r/mil*s and take it from there

R/India will ban you if you criticize their views in any other sub. Reddit is an echo chamber for the most part.

That’s not true. We have issues yes, like all social media platforms, sometimes it’s too much pressure externally and internally. But as long as you are not openly racist - go to subreddits that are not pro India and state your views.

Dude r/India is basically an India hate sub. Go look at it, everything negative. You can't even cross question or state facts without being banned. Anyways scroll through for 5 min, if you can't see it idk what to say to you.

Answer questions on r/AskReddit, or find a small/medium sub where you can contribute something meaningful and useful to others. Also, check out r/LinkedInLunatics. One of my favorites, it's hilarious, and people usually read through most comments

There are so many small subreddits that are frankly, more friendly more fun and very unique compared to askReddit and askWomen crap.
