I am a new grad. I have a job offer that I accepted a while ago from a Healthcare company. My start date is in a week. However, I also recently received an offer from a bay area tech company. I feel like it's a lot better for my career, and am 99% sure I'm going to renege on my current job. What are the consequences of this? Can they potentially sue me for violating my employment contract or something? What is the best way to go about doing this?
I did the same a few years ago. After graduated, I had a new offer in the bay and turned down the other offer in the east coast. So far so good
Nothing will happen. Congrats on the new gig!
I ve heard they will seriously consider not hiring you again
Happens all the time. Hiring manager wont like you very much and you might burn a bridge with that company. Big whoop, take the better offer
If you plan on going back. Absolutely would burn a bridge
There's no burning bridges here. It's open ended on both sides. They have the right to terminate offer and you have right to renege. If you apply again, they might ask pointed questions about why you didn't join. But I seriously doubt employers black list for this
False. Heard it from a fb manager
Yes some companies do. Roll the dice, if you want to work in tech who cares
Not a big deal at all
Just let them know asap.
No they won’t sue. Worst case they may not hire you again.
