Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
I have accepted the offer from Goldman Sachs, and pending joining in February 2023. Given the recent layoff news at Goldman Sachs, I am worried about joining them. How bad is the situation? TC: 200k sgd (after stock crash) YOE: 7 Location : Singapore Company: not Bytedance :D Edit: added location, currency, company Update: did not join GS.
Which loc OP?
Newyork or Dallas I guess.
How could your TC only 200k ? I thought Bytedance pay well
Tell us about them layoffs man
Goldman don’t layoff new joiners. If a layoff happens, the target will be legacy employees who stayed at company for many years but failed to perform up to standards. Targeting new joiners seem to be an awful tech thing
Which division?
GS is a cutthroat place with mandatory layoffs each year of the bottom 5-10%. They also expect salaried employees to be available 24/7 for no extra pay. I don't see why their environment would be any worse now.
For SWE?
Yup
Which division? IMO global markets is probably safe because we actually had a good year. Although bonuses won't be great since the firm's performance overall was bad
Layoffs are an issue for the business (particularly IBD), underperforming employees, and Marcus. Outside of those 3, it’s business as usual.
You would know by January about the situation, whatever layoffs are about to happen will be finalized in Jan before the bonus payouts..
do not join. wait for better offers.
That's the best I could get in current market. :|
Not bad yet
Goldman had layoffs? When?
You jinxed it
Hells yeah! The CEO is not even apologetic about it. That's cold. I had no intention though. It was an honest question.
