I am a computer science grad looking to get into product design. I am currently starting out with playstore and AppStore reviews to find UX pain points in existing products like Google Maps and Instagram. I am then planning to do a UX research by reaching out to my friends and even on Reddit and Quora. However, I am struggling to find real UX problems on Playstore and AppStore. How can I find actual UX problems?#ui/ux #design #portfolio #productdesign #casestudy #google #amazon #microsoft @Amazon @Google @Microsoft @Uber
Checknout the google ux course on coursera, i beleive the assignments are to design 3 types of experiences
Choose an app/product that you have never used. Enterprise products are usually good to start with if you’re looking for an easy target. You’ll see lots of issues there. You can also by giving yourself a common UX task on these sites ie change your profile information to see how the UX is. Good luck!
The UX industry is abusing learned experiences. Too often im having to re-learn navigation techniques on iPhone and its annoying. Apps are purposely solving for problems we dont have. Swipe left to see this, double tap to see that, turn phone sideways if you want to message. Rather take about ux problems, talk about over solving and market confusion on when to leave an experience alone and stop complicating ux.

You should check out her videos. She’s a designer from google and really goes through how to get started into the UX career and gives tips and tricks. Here’s a video of her explaining how to create your own case study https://youtu.be/mWnfc0Lm_F4 I also have a comp sci background and did something similar. You don’t have to find the biggest UX problem on the App Store, you basically have to go and find something you might do differently because you found it challenging or confusing to use and assume others would as well and explain your process and the logic behind your reasonings for changing it.

You don’t go to find those. You realize those.
Can you please elaborate?
