Has anyone here worked on ML/AI in hardware? Where does it apply? I have seen SDR and SDN would that fall in that category. Enlighten me, please.
There are a bunch of startups doing architectures/chips for AI (inference mostly). Many companies are building their own AI chips (Google - TPU, Apple, Facebook, Intel). Xilinx, Nvidia all do AI hardware. Outside if that there is applications of AI in many areas of automation in the hardware companies
AI hardware (chips) is happening. Several startups in the area and several large companies are investing in this space. As the person above described, the application is mostly restricted to inference (with good reason). Machine learning can also be used in failure analysis and verification to triage root causes.
Definitely, go look at technical conference papers in your company. There are bound to be many!!! Including physical Design
