How did you afford a home in Los Altos/Saratoga/Los Gatos?
Hi Everyone, Currently a home owner in the Campbell area (bought recently). My target is to afford a house in Saratoga/Los Altos/Los Gatos in the next 4-5 years and with my current TC that looks impossible. For people who did this, any smart advice you can give to me regarding growing my wealth, investments or any other real estate hacks? Those buying houses currently in the above areas, what’s your TC so that I can have a target in mind?! TC: 250K Household TC: 400K YOE: 4 PS: will work towards job change soon! PPS: Missed the Bitcoin ride :/

Bought for 1.65, estimate is 1.7 now. How does that impact? Are you talking about the equity in the house?
You need to get your household tc up which is most important. It’s not hard to get 400k+ per person which is just L5 senior eng pay.
Right job change is definitely on the list, any other tips besides that? What’s the household TC generally needed for a 3M home?
Our combined tc is 800k for house in Los Gatos.

Which part in Campbell? I recently pulled the trigger in Campbell as well. My home is close to Quito and 85.
I’m closer to downtown :) border of west SJ and Campbell. Quito and 85 is almost Saratoga, isn’t it? That would be my backup in case I can’t afford those places :P How much did you buy it for?

Just one of those dreams. Really love LA/LG/Saratoga vibes. It’s much safer, affluent and highly educated crowd. Why not buy a house in such a place if you can and why not work towards it if you can’t? The number of houses doesn’t matter to me that much but I would rather have one house that’s a dream house! Just a different perspective.
My parents bought their Saratoga home back in 2003 for around $2m. Now it’s like $7m
