Hello, I have 9 YOE and a masters degree. I want to apply for a software engineer role at Jane Street, London. I currently work for SAP, Germany. I wonder what the chances are for getting an interview call. What criteria does the recruiter look for on a resume? TC: 83k USD #tech #swe #janestreet #janestreetcapital #janestreetinterview
I am also from Germany and working here. Never thought SAP would low ball this much to a senior engg.
Looking for more info. Was considering switching to fintech too. There are some bloggers on youtube that talk about the subject and do consult.
You sure want to write ocaml?
I would handwrite it for 500k TC
What's wrong with ocaml? Have you heard of ABAP?
You should probably get to FAANG first. Not sure if they even bother with your CV but you can try
easy to get interview. Comically hard to pass.
A call? Not that hard. A job? p hard
What's the interview process like?
Recruiter reached out. Had a phone screen. Solved the problem. Got feedback that JavaScript was a strange choice for DSA… could be anything. Who knows?🤷♂️
Have y’all actually gotten interviews at JS? JS is really hard to get interviews for as a candidate
Fr lmao why is everyone saying that it’s easy to get interviews…
I am a Frontend developer with 8 yoe working in NRW. The market for JS is practically dead. I have been looking for a job since 3 months, All the German companies I interviewed think 80k is a lot and won’tgo beyond it. Applied for hubSpot, elastic and crowdStrike all through employee referrals, still got outright rejections. I wonder is this the limit in Germany, will we ever grow? Btw I am German citizen, if it at all matters. Feeling lost now, I feel I will be at this same company until 67.
Incredibly difficult. Unless you come from a prestigious background or have several accolades under your belt, it’s nigh impossible to break in, especially since you’ll be competing against prodigies who have studying to break into JS from when they were young. There’s a reason HFTs pay so well: they have an incredibly high hiring bar and brutal performance standards. You’re better off breaking into FAANG and moving up that ladder. Good luck! TC: 90K
I’m at a JS competitor and had JS interviews lined up (cancelled after getting my offer), I am not a prodigy in any way. I have colleagues who came from JS and friends there now, they are not prodigies either. Not saying it’s easy but the difficulty is way overblown on this app.
@hft4me is Leetcode+system design enough?
SAP is only paying 83k for 9yoe?
German standard. Well, it is possible to get 90 something but 100+ is a long stretch
Salaries in Europe can be really low compared to America/canada for tech roles.
