I believe I'm not being paid what I'm worth. Before I have a conversation with my manager, I'd like to do some research and gather hard data. Aside from Glassdoor, what other resources can I use?
Indeed. I like BLIND APP since it is like truecar earlier days. Without BLIND, negotiate offer is like haggle with car dealer without knowing what the market fair price is.
The best way to know your market value is to interview. Also, you can reach out to your network outside of Apple. Some may give you good info.
Okay, here goes: Current title/role: Communication Design Manager (MGR1, 1 direct report), create and execute communications strategy for VP of my division, support other Directors and Sr. Directors with comms design. Experience: 11 years at company, 5 in role (promoted last October) Salary: $110,000 Bonus: $22,000 (last year) RSU: $60,000 (last year's grant) I spoke with a colleague who is an experienced recruiter and believes I should be compared to marketing and executive communication roles. Appreciate any insight the community can offer.
I agree, you are underpaid. With your experience and responsibilities I would expect well over $200k per year. My educated guess would be $250k - $300k would be closer to market.
You are grossly underpaid
Yes you are under paid.... Base sal should be around 200k atleast...
Apple is notoriously low on base salary.
is that the case? apple tops all other offers when hiring. is it the case that the salary doesn't grow once inside?
I have two friends in Engineering and their base is crazy low and only increases about 3-5% per year. They make it up with stock, but when you are trying to live off your base, $120ish is pretty low when other companies pay significantly higher base.
I've heard at Apple, you really need to get a competitive offer to get your boss to see the light.
Payscale is a great resource for estimating your market value.
Signed up for Payscale and it says I'm in the 78th percentile. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Try www.paysa.com
you sound very underpaid - esp for the Bay. ....and i have no experience with comms or design salaries
Your bonus looks pretty high though. In hardware people get around 5k-10k bonus in Apple. Base salary and RSU looks low if u r getting rated as exceeded expectations. In H/w u get around 100-150k RSU with that rating. And people with 11yrs of exp r usually at lC4 level where base salary can vary from 135k-175k.

What notice do you give when leaving job?
What's your level, years of experience, tech stack you're most experienced in, advanced degrees, any special domain experience? And of course, how much are you paid: base, bonus, RSUs. This community can help fairly assess in my experience. Or you can use some of the other salary sites but I find them a bit harder to compare as they don't get to a deeper level apart for title and company
