JPMorgan made me a verbal offer: $175K base + $60K bonus (10% of that bonus is RSU spread over 3 years). The bonus is based on personal performance, and we all know how subjective it can be. In other words, I don't count on it. My current base is $220 + 15% bonus ($33K) or $255K total. The bonus is also not guaranteed, but it is based on the company performance and individual performance, so the blended rate could drop to 10% but won't be 0. So, $242K at worst. The JPM recruiter told me at the very beginning that they would not only match my current compensation but also add something on top of it. That's why I applied for that position. It turned out they try to low ball me instead. How should I counter that offer to get what I want? Would they be open, for example, to 2-3 extra months of PTO instead of giving me extra money? They also promised to match my current unvested RSUs but that's not finalized yet. I suspect they would come short there as well.
What position is this ? They wonβt negotiate extra PTO thatβs for sure !
Does anyone not giving unlimited give more than 4 weeks? That's what this position will get at JP.
Pass for sure, too much uncertainty and risky
LinkedIn Staff SWE TC is 250K? Isn't that low for Staff...?
I did not count RSU in that number. If I add RSUs, that TC jumps to a bit over $400K for the next 2 years. Then, the proverbial cliff.
RSU are identical? I didn't know chase gave RSU
Unless you get into Executive Director level there wonβt be any RSUs unless youβre getting into some exceptional category. 99% of times you will get the promised bonus as per my experience here from last 3+ yrs. PTOs are good here which is 20 vacation days(use it or lose it) + 10days sick + 4 personal and 4months of paternity. DM me to have a detailed discussio. Happy to help you! If youβre a staff SE you might be getting Sr. Lead SWE VP which is a level below Executive Director here.
The cutoff for RSUs is $50k in bonus, not ED. There are VPs that get there. It starts at 10% and % goes up with the bonus amount. That said, the RSUs just screw you. It's not any additional money like grants are at a tech company. Instead, they're cutting the amount of cash you get and shifting it to RSU. The vest is crap too. 50% after 2 years, 50% after 3. Theory is if you stay a while, your older RSUs are vesting when you get new ones.
I don't like a part of the bonus to be converted to RSU with long maturity. That's why I asked them to lower the bonus and increase the base.
Its your fault for listening to a recruiter about promising to exceed linkedin tc at jpmc lol you should just taje it
I always trust recruiters. They never lie, you know.
Avoid JPM from Linkedin, it is a hard doengrade
I'd be laughing in the recruiter's face. Why on earth would you leave LI for JP without a big jump?
That is the question I will ask when they come up with a "final" offer.
Update: JPM increased their offer to $215K base and $85K bonus. However, they did not want to increase signup bonus over $20k and backed out of RSU buyout/match. I offered a few alternatives but they didn't accept any of these. Instead, they sent me a "we're no longer consider you" canned response. Oh, well. It's their loss after all.
