Competing offer and negotiation phase is all verbal. How do companies verify the authenticity of my other offers?
I’d like to think that they often don’t. But higher ups at your company will most likely be connected to higher ups at other companies to which they can quickly reach out and ask if they feel the need to do so.
Loool. Higher ups couldn't care less about these things
I agree. I wouldn’t be concerned about it.
There isn’t a formal mechanism. They are connected so if you are creating a fake offer with an absurd amount, they could ask one of their ex-colleagues. I don’t think it’s worth it for them to check if you are claiming a competing offer that is more than 30k. Generally not in your interest to claim a fake offer. You are probably going to mess up a detail or the company that offered you highest amount may just stop proceeding since they can’t compete with the fake offer you made. And than it looks absurd when you back track to accept an offer that was lower
G will ask for hard copies of offer letters.
But what if it's all in negotiation phase?
This is one of the many things that we need Blind for.
They ask you to send them the letter
Letter will only be created after we successfully negotiate, right? If during verbal negotiation I say offer too low, how will I get letter?
Search 'Do you make up an offer', there was a thread just last night on this topic and has some interesting insights
They have a good idea what other companies are offering. There really isn’t a need to verify the other offers.
As long as you aren’t faking it, why do you care :)
Just curious how it works.
