It would be fair to say that most SWE joining Microsoft have never programmed in C# and .NET. Is there a structured process to learn these skills? Do you get access to learning material and/or training courses or are you pushed into the water and expected to swim? Also, at IBM we get access to Safari Online which is invaluable as it gives free access to most programming trade books. Do you get that at Microsoft?
Are you a senior engineer ? Yes ? Have you ever programmed in c++ or Java ? Yes ? Start coding in C# right away :)
Ok but it takes time to learn the idioms and intricacies of a language right? I can always write Java in C# but that wouldn't be good.
@op what you said is what a lot of people take a long time to realize. Its no good writing Java in C#. C# has a lot more to offer and if you spend a little time getting familiar with that, you will set yourself up for success
It’s just like Java but prettier. Microsoft documentation for C# and .NET is really good. You can also look at Tutorial Point or take classes on Pluralsight. If you understand OOP, it’s a piece of cake.
Microsoft has MS library which gives a lot of great books and also OReilly. You will find a lot of great books and video tutorials on C# .NET there
Ok. I think O'Reilly and Safari are the same. Good to know it'll still be available to me.

Time and effort. C# is a beautiful language - you will be a convert in no time.
Lean into your IDE. Let Rider/Resharper help you pick up idiomatic C#.
I found C#/.net very straightforward to pick up, especially if you have a java background.
