New to the role so want to test if my experience is true for others. While I definitely find the product scoping and evaluation exciting, I feel that more than 50% of my time is spent chasing people to drive alignment and consensus. If this is typical of a PM, what are we learning here? Seems primarily influencing people w/o authority #product #productmanager #pm #tech

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
It’s a process problem at a lot of larger tech companies. It’s the most fun and least tedious when everyone’s goal is rapid alignment and everyone wants the greater (and not their own) good. I’ve had a lot of success at smaller companies, contained orgs and in gaming. My two FAANG experiences reinforced the lack of seeking alignment and promotion politics.
