My friends referred me for a few companies but I never received an interview call. The only time I managed to get a call was 1. when my friend shared a good connection with the hiring manager and handed over my resume directly to him, or 2. when one recruiter was kind enough to schedule an interview when I reached out to him on LinkedIn. Apart from that, it's mostly a dry season. It has been several months since I have been applying to jobs. I got referrals at Apple, Google, Microsoft, PayPal, Roku but no interview calls :( . I pinged a few recruiters on LinkedIn but they rarely respond. I don't think my resume is too bad. But I may be wrong. Can anyone let me know what keywords to include in the resume, or anything else that I can do to get more calls? Would it help if I mention my location as SF on my resume (I am currently not in any of the tech cities)? This is for data scientist position.
New grad?
No
^This is not true OP. Keep trying, definitely redo/update your resume.
This statement itself is not true but reverse is, I went to a top eng school and recruiters keep bugging me all the time. I got rejected from FB twice within 5 months and got another message from FB 6 weeks after last rejection
When I started looking out for job, got only one call in first month. After that, updated linkedin profile summary, added more relevant skills. Tried to updated LinkedIn profile once a day so that it might appear at top when searched by recruiters. Also, applied on compnies websites.
Company website π I can't get calls after a few referrals, not sure if company websites would fetch me calls.
This part about updating the LinkedIn profile regularly is important. It goes back to the days of monster.com, but this thing still works
I keep getting pinged by recruiters everyday including FANG and startups.

Get LinkedIn Premium and have the career interests open for new opportunities. Set a job alert and reach out to recruiters. I have seen success atleast some recruiters will respond back.
Sure, thanks.
Don't lose hope. It's just matter of time. Updating LinkedIn does help. Keep on applying.
Some of the things I did in no particular order - 1) Getting LinkedIn premium. Even though I had it just for a month, the number of views on my profile increased. I also enabled "actively looking for a change" option in status or somewhere. Set all the locations you are open to. I got a lot of recruiters reaching out to me after that. They weren't from top companies though. 2)For Fang and like, I always reached out to recruiters whom I was in touch in the past. 3) A lot of times, telling the recruiters that I'm looking for a change and that I have interviews lined up with other big companies also got them to respond. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Thanks. I don't have LinkedIn premium but if it's worth it, I'll buy. I turned on the actively looking status after your message. I can get in touch with recruiters from companies that I got rejected from last year, there are a few.
yoe? How far do you live from SF? Both are factors.
I stay in Philadelphia. 5 yoe.
Everybody goes through this experience
For how long? And what's the solution?
