How do you reply to a LinkedIn recruiter with a role that's an obvious step down from my current role?

I think we all get these. How do you reply to a LinkedIn recruiter with a role that's an obvious step down from my current role? Ignore them? Shoot back a polite email? Help them understand why their request is really off base? Report them as spam? (for context, I've got 15+ years of experience and some messages are for stuff I've done 7+ years ago)

I reply to about 5% of my messages. This is obviously an easy ignore.

This is the correct move. No reason to engage them

LinkedIn app has an easy one click option to reply as interested, maybe later, or not interested. Just click on the button of your choice and move along

Ignore unless if you are interested in the company and want the recruiter to connect you with other roles.

Most recruiters have a quota for how many inquiries they have to do. I’m in regulatory compliance and just got an inquiry for a factory line job. I was so pissed I emailed back asking her to think about what she was referring to me and to remove me from their contact.

Click the "Not Interested" button, and if you're feeling helpful, follow up with the reason (too junior for me). It helps LinkedIn teach recruiters whom to target better.

A polite no thanks. Recruiters move around and best not to piss the gatekeepers off.
