It may take a boomer to do the comparison: in 1990s to about 2005, it seems most middle class have a happy life. Not much financial problem, and companies and people don't try to con or squeeze out money from others like today. To right now, when people say they cannot afford rent, cannot buy a house, and have problems paying the bills. A college instructor have to live in the car. You get a phone call and they either claim that they are the IRS or PG&E (electric company), or a package from the fake UPS or DHL. How do you view the world between 1990s and now? Outside of the tech bubble, people struggled financially back then just as they do now. Difference now is that even tech is being affected.
at one point, the fact that we can calculate the trajectory of a canon ball is viewed as superstition
some cultures believe every 60 years is one cycle, so 1971 could be like 2031
the cycle is more related to metaphysics... and related to Jupiter and Sature 20 year alignment cycle... you can see 1960 was turbulent and 2020 was also
Buying power of the middle class is lowest in centuries
lol at "not much financial problems" in "1990s to about 2005". I remember fellow programmers in tears led out by security in mass layoffs of 2001.
You forgot 911 and Iraq war
yeah... maybe I should cut it at about year 1999 or 2000
