Obviously ChatGPT and it's competitors have value. But is this value that much more than every other cloud service at an AWS, Azure, GCP ect.? Microsoft is at a Market Cap of 2.4T, Google at 1.6T. Is AI really worth more than a maybe 10% increase from what they were before? Maybe these companies bake large AI models into some of their products, and allow outside companies to use them via an api. But no doubt the benefits of AI will be borne by the customers in cost savings and productivity. But realistically how much revenue will this generate for the platforms? Is this going to be in everything or is it just hype from coked up wall street people chasing the craze. TC 240k
Considering how much even a single salaried worker makes, AI is going to generate astronomical savings on workforce reductions alone.
You’re not in Azure, are you? Check with people in infrastructure teams and they’ll sort you out.
100 billion in revenue by 2027 https://www.forbes.com/sites/bethkindig/2023/06/15/microsoft-ai-will-help-drive-100-billion-in-revenue-by-2027/amp/
LLM will eliminate some jobs, companies will reduce some cost, unemployment rate will increase, unemployed people will reduce spending, companies’ revenues will decrease, great recession. When artificial intelligence is superior to human intelligence, humans cannot generate values, thus are not needed anywhere and anymore.
History will look fondly at Google trying to keep the genie in the bottle
How did the steam engine bring about an industrial revolution? We should have been stuck as an agrarian society with 10% higher outputs
Jump jump jump good boy ! *gives treat*
Insightful truly. I had not heard this perspective on the matter before.
