Yes, you can be hired as L6/L7 as an IC if you have the commensurate experience leading large, impactful, cross functional projects.
Translation: Know how to fill your calendar with meaningless 1:1s, send thinking/feeling email newsletters, and “+1 Agree” on Slack, Figma, and Google Docs

There are very specific interviews just to determine L6/L7 levelling and that shit wouldn't cut it lol

How do you showcase leadership though? None of the questions or interviews had leadership related questions
Then you probably did a L5 loop. L6 and L7 have a Leadership interview. You can't get those levels without that interview
I personally don't know of a single person hired in at L7, but plenty hired in at L6
Much easier to get hired in at L6. L7 is a high bar and you most likely aren’t going to cut it with only 7 YOE. L7 means you are providing organizational leadership and company level impact.

Is L7 IC at Square/Cashapp equivalent to L7/E7 at Google/Meta? No info on levels.fyi.
Probably closer to L6.
