Hello, I’m a stupid motherfucker so I need to ask this question. I can’t imagine enough people are buying the premium version of chatGPT to be in the green. Seems like they’ll never make money unless they charge for using it at all. The only other way is if msft pays them to use it on bing, but now msft is part owner anyway? Can someone help solve my curiosity?
They sell custom versions for enterprise companies. They’ve made $1 billion in revenue. Think Expedia, Wells Fargo, pwc.
I believe they will integrate it with existing Microsoft products as copilots to make them better so that they can take more market share
You could have asked this directly to chatgpt. Please respect your mother bro!!
Good point, but it’s not my mom I’m fucking 😎
The real revenue opportunity is from enterprise usage. For example, charging couple millions of dollar per year for a document generator for a law firm, pitch-deck generator for an investment bank, or a code generator for a tech company, all trained on proprietary confidential data.
Ahh makes sense. So they’re building up to that, or is already out there? I was my company (not amazon anymore) had its own version so I could paste whatever I want in there
It’s already out.
Developer API. Very easy to spend hundreds or even thousands per month on even a small scale project.
They just released their enterprise version which puts company data in "silos" that the public can't see. There's a small business version coming out for smaller businesses (startups). Mom and pop realtors can buy the $20 a month version and they are already using it to streamline listings, client follow up, etc.
Lots of ppl pay for ChatGPT4. They don't publish the numbers, but number of paying users must be at least in single digit millions. Among my friends many pay for GPT4. It's a tool useful for pretty much anyone and works on all languages. But enterprise use will bigger source of revenue.
