How does comp at top Chinese companies compare to FAANG?
Would a senior engineer at a place like Alibaba or Baidu make as much as one at Google or Amazon? Is there comp different from their US based offices compared to offices in China?

It will be more. That is how they compete. Otherwise why would anyone join.
On par with google or somewhat higher depending on interview performance. but higher expectations and bigger pressure to perform. For super senior people, just like anywhere major, sky is the limit. Any 400+ billion companies can pay anything if it truly wants you.
It’s on par or higher than F/G for L5+. Again Chinese companies are not for slackers, nor non-Chinese(unless you want to be the token foreigner). I am joining one of them soon

One of my colleagues joined Google a few months back and had offer from Baidu which was around 25% more (TC). I heard Didi Chuxing/Didi Labs is paying pretty well as they have recently opened in Mountain View (though I don’t know any specific case).

Yes. Chinese offices will often earn more than their US counterparts for higher level positions. The reverse is true for lower level positions
