Say you work at YouTube and want to transfer to Google, or work at Google and want to transfer to Verily. How does that process work? Do you have to do an entirely new interview or you just have a chat with the hiring manager?
Definitely Waymo has separate interview loop, likely the other Bets as well
If it’s under Google (eg YouTube to search) it’s relatively easy assuming the role is same function/level. It’s principally a hiring manager coffee talk kind of situation. Google non GCP to GCP (and vice versa) is a bit harder but not by much. Google to other bets (ie Verily, Waymo) is full interview process.
Are there any pay differences in the different orgs? Say YouTube, Search, GCP?
GCP is piloting a front loaded stock approach, but the other orgs are pretty much the same pay and everything. It's all under the Google umbrella so they're more or less the same.
YouTube is within google, not alphabet.
I think waymo gets it's own rsu. Not Google stock. Can someone confirm?
It’s part of Alphabet, as is Google. There is no such thing as ‘Google’ stock. Yes, they kept the ticker, but that’s it. It’s essentially a conglomerate- think of GE, for example. Different businesses that are distinct enough to have their own P&Ls, tech stack, etc.
I mean to answer their actual question though, yes Wayne and Verily get Waymo and Verily equity, not GOOGL
How about transferring from Waymo to Google? is it a new interview loop?
Yes it's a full loop of 5 interviews
Of you change from Google to a bet you need to interview again in most cases
