Make sure your wife meets the next love of her life asap. And make sure she marries him.
Ideally, they should meet before the divorce.
WA is no fault state so it doesn’t matter…
You're fucked to the tune of $170k.
Why divorce now?
Wa is a community property state and not everything is divided 50-50, specially child custody. My advice will be not to make it contentious because judges in wa don't like contentious divorce and you would lose. If your wife doesn't work since 2020, and I hope it's not due to disability, then you should have to pay maybe 3 or 5yrs alimony. Negotiate. Do you have kids ? Wa does not have joint custody. There is a primary parent designated and it won't be you. So you will pay some child support too . Although it's a community property state, the judge has discretion to award your spouse more than 50% of your assets. They usually do 55-45 or 60-40 worst case. Child custody and estate division are 2 areas where wa state differs a lot from CA. Make a fair offer right out of the gate and then you spouse looks like someone after more money.
No <-8 kids = no alimony. Just half your current net worth.
Split after 25 years of marriage? Sorry, I don't want to make it worse, but probably talk it out?
Impossible really
But How can this happen?! So sorry
Half
Nope, WA is equitable, not equal. It is usually not a 50/50 split when there is a big income disparity
If not 50/50 then what I’m looking at? STBXW was making 70k back in 2020 and 0 after that, my last year was 340k
