In Switzerland, these companies hire a very small number of SWEs. How hard is it to get to one of these companies? Are interviews harder than interviews in the USA? (bigger number of applicants / FAANG ratio) #swe #switzerland #zurich #faang #europe
Don’t know about Palantir but FB and Apple in Zurich will be difficult unless you have specialized domain specific skills in AI/ML/CV. Apple in Zurich is growing but very focused in the above domain/s.
What ^Apple said. These are small specialized remote offices hunting for specialized talent, mainly ML/CV PhDs from nearby ETH, not your general SWE. There's only Google which hires crowds of nondescript generic SWE and pays somewhat decently (≈US) around here Palantir doesn't have an office here. They hire sales/support engineers of some sorts to work onsite at their clients here. Pay is decent I've heard. But the job is odd
Are there any companies beyond Google that hire SWEs in Switzerland? Do Oracle, Cisco, IBM, Bloomberg, and Adobe hire SWEs generalists? I know that, in London, FAANG hire a lot, but the post-tax salary is very low in London

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
FB Switzerland is basically Oculus with some other smaller startups combined. So it’s different, yeah.
