Just to recap, they paid 27.7b and it was the 2nd biggest acquisition by a tech company ever (not adjusting for inflation).
I think that slack has a better shot at beating Microsoft with Salesforce. Salesforce will get to build like a super App for the enterprise that has 10X better user experience than their current interface. I think that in most companies, people communicate and collaborate using other tools and then have to update CRM. With slack, the communication and collaboration is already on it. It will make their application a lot more stickier.
Slack is used mostly by developers. Shalsh commands, no proper GUI for functionality other than chat. We're trying to make it a tool for salespeople? Or customer service reps? You think alpha male sales readers will type IRC commands? At least Teams has proper integration with other apps
Alpha male sales leaders will have assistants doing that for them. They are the reason there is still pay per view open in hotel rooms. The large number of sales reps and service reps are in their 20s born in the 90s and are more tech savvy. Granted the current UI might be skewed to tech people, it will evolve. You might have inside information that I don’t but integrating Slack with other enterprise apps and data is what I’d expect them to do ASAP. Edit- pay per view pornography
Great acquisition. Check how our stock reacted recently for proof.
Unsurprisingly, the one thing Salesforce does best is sell things. Let our sales reps loose on Slack and they will rake in huge money.
Let’s just say, the only thing Salesforce does best is…
Slack has a really shitty codebase, so fits in perfectly with Salesforce.
Haha
Stupid acquisition, crappy product. Slack would have been better separately
We’re operating relatively independently from SF, not much has changed in terms of direction. Still focused on core Slack experience just as much as we were before.
How is Slack a crappy product?
